  1. Mounting Ladies Bikes to a Car Rack

    September 12, 2009 by admin

It has always been tough Mounting Ladies Bikes to a Car Rack. Many of the new Full Suspension bikes do not have a full length top tube so they do not mount to many car racks also. The Solutions are available from Yakima, Hollywood, and Allen.

The Yakima Top Tube rear car rack adapter lists for $35 and mounts to the seat post and handlebar stem of most bicycles.

Mounting Ladies Bikes to a Car Rack is simple with the Yakima Top Tube

  2. Yakima KingJoe 3 Strap Mount Rear Car Rack

    September 12, 2009 by admin

The Yakima KingJoe 3 Strap Mount Rear Car Rack is designed to fit most cars. This rack will usually fit over most spoilers. The simple hub adjustments on theis rack let you fold it up to fit in your trunk when not in use but you can quickly adjust it to fit your car. Six Straps hold the King Joe 3 to your car. Triple padded feet fit your vehicle well and will keep the paint from being damaged.

The arms on the King Joe will fold down while installed on the vehicle. Most trunk racks will always have the arms sticking out in the way even when you are just transporting the rack. The KingJoe will also fold into a smaller package than most Strap Racks when not in use.

    MSRP: $155.00 USD | Product # 8002620

    Comments by Rick:

I like this rack and would buy the KingJoe 3 as instead of the King Joe 2. The extra length of the arms on the three bike model make it easier carrying just two bikes also.  Chuck likes this rack.

  3. Yakima Quickback 3 Trunkmount Bike Car Rack

    September 12, 2009 by admin

The Yakima Quickback 3 Trunkmount Bike Car Rack has a very unique method for adjusting to different vehicles. When I first saw how this worked I asked “Why didn’t I think of that?” The upper feet are mounted on bars that slide into the lower feet bars for adjusting. This telescoping idea works great.

All of the Yakima Trunkmount features are included in this their top of the line trunkmount, strap mount rack. The Narrow arm design, tri padded feet. The SwitchBlade antisway cradles help to cut down on bike to bike contact. Even if I only was going to carry two bikes I would buy the three bike model. You never know when you will pick up another rider and when carrying just two bike you have even more space between your bikes.
    Suggested List:$199.00

    Comments by Rick:
This is a top of the line trunkmount rack. I really like the design and how this rack works.
Be sure to check out the Video on mounting the rack on the Yakima Quickback 3 Trunkmount Bike Rack page.

  4. Yakima SpareJoe Spare Tire Bicycle Rack

    September 12, 2009 by admin

The Yakima SpareJoe Spare Tire Bicycle Rack will fit a lot of Small SUVs.   There are several features that I like on this rack.  The arms are offset and you can change the  offset from one side to the other.  Many spare tires are not mounted in the middle of the vehicle and if your bike s mounted right straight behind the tire your bike will be sticking urther off one side of your SUV than the other.

Most Spare Tire racks stay mounted on the vehicle.  They are not as easy to mount and dismount as strap mounted racks.  The arms of the Yakima Spare Joe fold down out of the way while this rack is mounted on your car.

Suggested List $130.00 of the Yakima SpareJoe Spare Tire Bicycle Rack

  5. Yakima SuperJoe 3 Trunkmount Rear Rack

    September 12, 2009 by admin

The Yakima SuperJoe 3 Trunkmount Rear Rack quickly folds for storage and the unfolds and adjusts easily to fit your car. The yakima Quick Trigger Hub system is used to adjust the arms of this rack. Three bicycle capacity but it works better for hauling one or two bikes. Yakima’s Narrow arm design allows most bicycles to easily fit on this rack. Six straps are used to attach this rack to your car which solidly stabilizes the rack to the car. This rack also includes the Glass Hatch Hooks if your car happens to need them. With most car racks this is an expensive accessory.  Suggested List $115.00.

  6. Yakima Super Joe 2 Rear Mount Strap Rack

    September 12, 2009 by admin

The Yakima Super Joe 2 Trunk rack is a little heavier duty version of the Little Joe 3. The mainUpgrade from the LittleJoe is the Super has individual Bike “Stable Cradles” to stabilize the bikes on the rack. This system comes with the Six strap Stabilizing system so once mounted to your car the rack does not move. Yakima Narrow Arm design allows you to fit most bikes on this rack. The included Glass Hatch Hooks are excellent for fitting certain vehicles. Suggested List Price $95. Product # 8002616

    Rick’s Comment:
This rack is a good step up from the LittleJoe, the bike stabilizing straps hold the bicycle on the rack very well. This rack folds quickly for storage using the Yakima Quick Trigger Hub System, like in your trunk, and then is quick to unfold and mount to your car. If I was carrying two bikes a lot I would step up to the Super Joe 3 to get more separation of the bikes on the rack. I would use the #1 and #3 position for carrying two bikes.

  7. Yakima LittleJoe 3 Trunk Rack

    September 12, 2009 by admin

The Little Joe Three is the entry level Yakima Trunk Rack. Yakima makes some of the most adjustable trunk racks on the market. I like this rack but the one piece top bar is not as adjustable to different vehicles as some other racks. If you are puttting it on a car with a trunk it works well. The bikes will need to be padded to keep from rubbing on each other. Fitting three bikes to this rack is a job. To just haul one bike it is quick and easy. If you do not care about the paint job on your bicycles, you can throw three bikes on this rack easily. The support legs easily fold up so when storing this rack it does not take up a lot of space. It is quick and easy to go from storage mode to the back of your car. This rack is much easier to adjust than the Hollywood F1B.

    Comment by Rick:
The Yakima LittleJoe 3 is n OK entry level Trunk mounted Strap Rack for a reasonable price. I would go with a rack that separates the bikes with individual bicycle holders.
